Providing training and support for a pumper is the single biggest factor for success of a pumper in learning a new system. Most pumpers need support and training for anywhere between a few days to a few weeks but require little to no training thereafter.

Provide your pumpers with the hardware and software to be successful. Investing in quality hardware and software upfront will provide for faster adoption and greater workflow efficiency. Pumper success is also dependent on the quality of the user interface of the capture device.  Providing a pumper with outdated, clunky, and hard to use software/hardware is a not a recipe for success.

Provide a transition period

Implementing a new system and expecting near perfect results too quickly leads to frustration for all involved. Managing expectations for those involved in the process will reduce stress and help everyone understand the plan. Provide pumpers with a transition period or overlap period that will allow them to continue with the current process they feel comfortable with while learning the new system. Provide a reasonable transition period while helping them plan for the date they need to be fully trained and operating the new system. Managing expectations is key to your success.
